Candidates: Identify and document opportunities for local or statewide political office or positions on Boards or commissions. Seek potential candidates. Identify and facilitate candidate and leadership training opportunities.
Communications: Keeps members, stakeholders and the community informed about activities, events and issues using multiple communications channels (web site, email, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.). Works closely with members of WOW Dems committees to develop content for distribution in press releases, articles, emails, podcasts, and video. Maintains monthly content calendar and distribution lists for email communications; serves as web master.
Finance: Help treasurer with audits and other bookkeeping activities.
Fundraising: Plan and implement a major fund-raiser each year (and typically one or more smaller fund-raisers).
Hospitality: Acquire and coordinate snacks served at Bi-Monthly General Meetings. Call/contact members to arrange for donations of snacks and support. Coordinate set-up and clean-up. Plan and implement our annual “Day of Service”.
Legislative Action: Inform and organize our members to respond to upcoming Legislation that impacts women, via trips to Austin for Lobby Days, speaking with our elected officials, attending local council meetings, letter writing, use of social media etc.
Membership: Keep a record of members in an Excel data file and periodically distribute to Board. Check ACTBlue site for membership dues payments and follow recurring dues payments. Print and maintain name badges. Send Thank You notes to each person who joins. Sign in and greet members and guests at meetings. Follow up with guests and/or non-renewing members, as required. Conduct a telephone drive to contact all non-renewing members to encourage continuing membership. Develop and implement initiatives to solicit new members.
Programs: (handled by President Elect) Schedule quality speakers for quarterly meetings. Handle meeting logistics, manage meeting rental, and send speaker thank you notes.
