Board of Directors

WOW Dems Board members serve a two-year term that starts in January of each year. Board members meet on the fourth Sunday of every other month (non-general meeting months).

The Officers are President, Vice President, Chief Financial Officer/Treasurer, and Secretary. The Board is also comprised of Committee Chairs who run committee meetings that manage the business of the organization.

Officers

Co-President

TRISH P

Trish wears many hats: mother, professor, and - most of all - servant. After many years in corporate America, she realized her true passion no longer lied in the board room or executive meetings, but rather, in educating youth and serving as a conduit to ensure the right people connected to the right purpose. Stepping out on faith, she acquired a position in the Community College District, where her passion for teaching came to life. Continuing to evolve, Trish began living by the mantra that servant leadership pays Civic Rent. Believing service starts at home, she served as president of the Plano Community Forum, forging the way to provide PISD minority graduates with college scholarships. She served as co-chair of the MLK Steering Committee, spearheading the formation of the annual event celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and she served as chair of Juneteenth Collin County and a active member of the NAACP. She serves as the vice chair and Director of Outreach for the Stopping the Madness Antibullying Foundation (SMAF), a 501(c)3 organization and founding agency of the Dallas Women's Success Initiative (DWSI), where nearly 200 women are educated and trained through professional and interpersonal development. Trish is a former member of Junior League of Collin County (JLCC), where she served as a member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee and later became chair of the Community Nonprofit Excellence Workshops. In 2019, she held the title of being named "Volunteer of the Year."

Co-President

SAADIA A

Saadia graduated in International Studies from Austin College where she intensified her commitment to serving the community. She is a community and thought leader in Dallas/Fort Worth in addition to being the founder and adviser to numerous nonprofit and community initiatives.

Saadia was awarded the "Trailblazer" award by Texas Muslim Women's Foundation and "Community Leader of the Year" award by CAIR DFW. She was also the first recipient of Radio Azad’s “Unsung Hero” recognition. She has been a community builder and influencer who has worked on campaigns at every level since she was a young high schooler at Plano East Senior High.

Vice President

SARAH M

Sarah was the founder of Collin County Moms Demand Action and the Local Group Leader for two years. Those two years included a lot of interaction with elected officials from city to state to national. As 2020 approached, she knew the census and the elections all the way down the ballot were too important to leave to a nonpartisan approach. To that end, she shifted from partnering to becoming more personally involved with Liberal Women's Action Network and Women Organizing Women Democrats. In 2019, she founded the 501(c)3 nonprofit Elf Army of Light, a non-religious community for bereaved families experiencing pregnancy loss and infant death. Professionally, Sarah is a licensed financial services professional allowing activists and community-involved women avoid financial burdens by providing them with business solutions and financial plans, whether that is personal or group short-term disability, long-term disability, life insurance, retirement planning, tax-free investments, college planning, legacy planning, estate checklist, budget creation, and long-term care planning and insurance.

Treasurer

LINDA G

Treasurer Linda became involved with WOW Dems after the 2016 presidential election. She has served on the fundraising committee, chaired two silent auctions, and completed the term for a previous Programs Chair.

Secretary

ELLEN S

Candidates Committee Chair

LAURA D

Laura is a communications professional specializing in public service and nonprofit agencies. Before moving to Plano in 2018, Laura was a Democratic precinct chair in one of the reddist congressional districts in the United States. Although winning was out of reach, community members made invaluable connections and felt like they were not alone. Laura served six years on the board of Grayson College Foundation, which funds community college scholarships. She has a heart for first-generation college students and especially for older students.

Laura holds an MBA from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and completed a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from the Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM) in Dallas in 2019.
