Summer is almost here, and that means vacation and relaxation for many! But along with the fun, we at WOW Dems offer you the following important and timely programs, especially in light of the recent disturbing events in McKinney.  Please join us…

June 11 WOW Dems General Meeting

Come and listen to John Fullinwider co-founder of Mothers Against Police Brutality (MAPB) speak about the problem of police brutality in our society today. Mothers Against Police Brutality is an emerging, Dallas-based, multi-racial, multi-ethnic coalition uniting people nationally from all walks of life to hold law enforcement agencies more accountable. Collette Flanagan founded MAPB in 2013 after her son, Clinton Allen, an unarmed young man in custody, was shot to death by a Dallas police officer. MAPB is leading the way to change deadly force policy throughout the US and to help restore trust between the police and the communities they are sworn to serve and protect.

Time to Renew Your Membership

WOW Dems relies on membership donations to pay for our regular operating expenses.  Please log on here to renew your membership for 2015 or to join for the first time. Our goal is to increase the number of women who are interested in learning more about the political process and possibly running for office. Our best recruiting tool is word of mouth so we encourage you to bring a friend to a meeting or event. Let’s make a concerted effort to expand our membership in 2015. Thanks for your support.

WOW Dems – How to Get Involved

To get the most out of WOW Dems, we encourage you to join one of our committees. Most of our organization’s work takes place at the committee level, and while we will have general meetings every 2 months as well as other social and political events and activities throughout the year, joining a committee is the best way to get know members and build relationships within our community.

WOW Dems Committees: Candidates, Communications, Events and Outreach, Fundraising, Legislative Action, Membership, Programs. Committee descriptions can be found on our website.

Volunteer Survey Form Please fill out our volunteer survey form and email to[email protected]. If you are interested in participating on a committee, email the chair of the committee directly. If a committee is without a chair, email [email protected] for more information.
