We are still basking in the glow of our successful fundraiser “Wearing it for the Win.” Speaker Gloria Campos energized and entertained the capacity crowd with her wit and wisdom. Several members and friends of WOW Dems participated as models for our resale fashion show. The silent auction featured fabulous selections ranging from a hand-made quilt to a chuck wagon dinner. All proceeds from this spectacular event have been disbursed to Democratic women candidates selected by the WOW Dems board and members. These efforts are in alignment with our mission to support and help elect Democratic women in partisan and non-partisan races.

Thanks again to all who attended and those who generously gave their time and talents to make this event a success.

This is a critical time to get involved in the election process. Please sign up to make calls, knock on doors, donate to candidates, and talk to your friends and neighbors about our great slate of Democratic candidates. Remember, your vote is your voice!

Quarterly Meeting – Thursday, October 9th
The final quarterly meeting of 2014 will be held on Thursday, October 9th at the Environmental Education Center, 4116 W. Plano Parkway, Plano 75093. Meet and greet begins at 6:30 with our program starting at 7 p.m.

We are pleased to have Carolyn Daniel from Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America as our guest speaker. Carolyn is an Ambassador for the DFW/TX area, an educator, and mother of two young boys. As an advocate for gun violence prevention, she is passionate about her work to promote common sense gun legislation and raise awareness about our gun culture. Please join us for what is sure to be an enlightening presentation.

A business meeting will follow the program. The nominating committee will be presenting a slate of candidates to serve as WOW Dems officers for the upcoming two-year term starting in 2015.

Dallas Morning News Recommends
Sameena Karmally for TX House District 89
Sameena Karmally, WOW Dems member and candidate for Texas House District 89, was recently recommended by the Dallas Morning News. Sameena is running against long-time incumbent Jodie Laubenberg.

In their recommendation, the DMN described Sameena as a “top-notch opponent” with a vision that is “more constructive and forward-looking than what Laubenberg has offered.” The paper goes on to note an impressive list of examples outlining Sameena’s vision for Texas. The paper expresses what we already knew – that Sameena Karmally will work hard and focus on creating a better future for all Texans.

Congratulations Sameena! Anyone interested in helping the campaign, please sign up here.
